I have posted these images because the town of Maxdale ( which barely exists now) has a long and storied history of being haunted, particularly the old Parker Truss bridge and cemetary pictured here. Many persons have told stories about an old man with a limp being seen in the cemetary at night, believed to be an caretaker. And "Ghost Hunters" have reported seeing strange orbs of light in the cemetary at night. The bridge has an even longer tale of ghost sightings, including a man seen hanging from the bridge at night in the headlights of visiting cars. Supposedly he committed suicide because he could not save his girlfriend who drowned in the river. A second story has it that a busload of children went off the bridge and drowned and now if you visit at night you can hear the children crying and urging you to get across the bridge. A third story has a man committing suicide by driving his pickup off the bridge and visitors to the bridge at night tell tales of seeing a "ghost" pickup chasing their car. Old wives tales or urban legends? We all know there is no such thing as ghosts right? Believe what you will but I would not advise visiting this bridge or cemetary at night!!
