The San Geronimo (or St. Jerome ) Church seen from Red Willow Creek.

The Red Willow Creek is the sole source of drinking water for the natives living and working in Taos Pueblo. It is so named for the red willows growing along its banks. The creek originates from Blue Lake located in the Sangre de Cristo mountains behind the village. This lake and mountains are considered sacred ground and therefore off limits to all but the Red Willow people.
