Mushrooms, Fungi, Lichens, and Mosses

Along with wildflowers, I see quite a few varieties of mushrooms, mosses, lichen and fungi. All were shot in the southern Appalachian Mountains. I don't know many of the IDs, so feel free to help me out if you spot one you know. Thanks to everyone who has helped with some of the ID's and especially thank you for all the kind comments!

WOW! Thank you for sharing. Ive been taking mushroom etc pics in NE GA mountains as respite from taking care of my parents and by looking at your pics I can name some of my own!

I love your galleries... it reminds me of the photos I'm always shooting whenever we go hiking. I was trying to identify a waterfall from my parent's photos, but it must not be from NC. I've so enjoyed browsing your collection - thanks for sharing it!

Hello, I just discovered some very strange mushroom growing in a houseplant. They are the strangest things I've ever seen. Bright yellow, like hardened hardboiled egg yolk, or like someone put a piece of rubber glove into the pot and it started sprouting! One is a very slender shoot, plus little nubs all throughout the pot, one that looks like a hand(!) as it sprouts, and then yellow stuff spread all over the soil. Any ideas, anyone? I live in Tennessee but have not been to the Appalachins and don't live anywhere close! Have no clue why only one of my 9 potted green plants would be sprouting these mushrooms. Thank you!

8-9-10 are all Amanita flavoconia, 19 is Tylopilus plumbeoviolaceus, 20 is Cortinarius iodes, 24 is Pholiota squarrosoides, 21 and 25 are Lycoperdon perlatum, shelf mushroom one is trametes versicolor

Mushroom 21 is a puffball -- same one as the picture below it. I forget the species.

Gaby, they are a harmless houseplant meshroom called leucocopryness birbaumee.

I have what began as a fig bonsai but is now an enormous plant. I recently found 2 big yellow mushrooms growing out of the soil. Not only that, but the leaves are turning yellow, then brown, then falling off. Panic time! I removed the 'shrooms, & don't want to lose this small tree. Help, & thanx for your attention!

Hi Rich,

i found a yellow mushroom growing in one of my inside plant pots. it's similar to mushroom #9, has a similar base to Boletus Ornatipes and could be #10 once it grows up. Any ideas? It's pretty but I think it might take over the other plant soon :) thanks
