I headed back to Florida on Friday. Cindy bought a new place and I wanted to help get it ready for her to move in. We spent Saturday painting then headed towards Gainesville on Sunday to visit Paynes Prairie State Park. The 22,000 acre park is home to numerous bird species, alligators and other reptiles, wild horses, and even bison! The day was clear when we left Cindy's house, but this area was socked in with fog. We started at the Hwy 441 entrance and the Lake Trail near the camping area. The trail almost immediately comes to a short boardwalk area in a cove of Lake Wauberg. We were hoping for some bird shots here. Not much was happening yet. This Wood Stork was perched on a scraggly little tree - maybe waiting for the fog to lift.
