The trail continues through the sand and shrub to another boardwalk area, then finally out on the beach. I used to go to the NC beaches a lot when I lived in Raleigh, but haven't seen any beach anywhere in over 10 years. It was like seeing an old friend. The sappy feeling faded fast when I spotted some potential subjects to shoot. I had the 16-80mm lens on at the time and this was about as close as I could get without spooking them.
