This barn is located behind the house. According to the Cades Cove Tour brochure, this type of barn with the drive through in the center was more typical than the cantilever barn in east Tennessee. Hay from the loft would be fed to the animals below in the winter months and the drive through could serve as a shelter for farm equipment.
