There was still some snow left in the shaded areas near Balsam Grove, but as we climbed Hwy 215 towards the Parkway, the snow levels picked up. The road was mostly clear, but the snow was piled up along the road from the plows. I was afraid we wouldn't be able to pull into the normal parking area, so we opted to pull up on the Parkway, park there and walk down the half mile to where the MST crosses 215. That turned out to be a good choice - there was no way to get a vehicle in that parking area. It turned out that there was a LOT more snow than I had thought there would be. Average depth was about a foot with deeper snow in many places. There were a few foot prints when we first got on the MST, but the trail to these waterfalls quickly branches off and our foot prints were the first in this snow. Here's JC after one of the creek crossings.
