September 20 - Big Ivy, Pisgah National Forest

I had one day this week end set aside to get out and play - I picked today. My friend JC had asked about a hike and when I told him I was thinking about heading to Douglas Falls, that became our plan. The forecasts called for a lot of rain - and they were right - but we figured what the heck and went anyway. This area of the Pisgah Forest is near Barnardsville - out Dillingham Rd and on to Forest Rd 74. The area is also referred to as Coleman Boundary. FR74 winds uphill through the forest for several miles before ending at the parking for Douglas Falls. It crosses several creeks along the way and several of them have waterfalls or cascades on them. We bypassed most on the way up, but did stop at this one. It was still raining and kind of dark, so most of these pictures have slower shutter speeds than I like to use.

Before I forget, you should also check out JC's pictures here -
