Lichen Falls is on a tributary of the Tuckasegee River. It is a tick mark on the Kornegay Panthertown map, and I guess the Forest Service decided to give it a name. I can't really see them ever building a trail to it - maybe if they all of a sudden they had more money than they knew what to do with. Getting to this point from either way now requires some difficult scrambling and boulder climbing on the river near the waterfall.

I was very surprised to see the water levels here and on the river as low as they are. The area has received some decent rainfall, just not enough to keep the streams at reasonable levels I guess.
