This week end found me back up in Lake Toxaway for some type of adventure yet to be determined. I pass right through Brevard and if I'm heading up on a Friday, I usually stop in the Pisgah Forest somewhere. This Friday's plan was a hike along the Davidson River then up Right Fork looking for wildflowers. This is part of the Daniel Ridge Loop Trail. The trail head parking is on FR475 past the fish hatchery and Cove Creek group camp area. After Cove Creek the road turns to gravel and is in horrible shape with some crater size potholes. Walk past the gate, over the bridge, and the trail turns to the left a short ways up. This shot is from the first part of the trail which passes by several walk in camp sites along the river. These are free, but it's first come and no facilities.
