Broad-winged Hawk "Kettles"

During migration, Broad-wings locate updrafts or thermals, soar within the vertical flows until it dissipates then glide on to the next updraft. This allows them to travel long distances using very little energy. Large numbers of them spend the winter in central South America. Actually it's Summer down there!
