Dig Site - 38PN35 2006 - 2008

38PN35 is a highly productive archaeological site at Foxwood Farm in Pickens County. Work is being conducted, now by the Piedmont Archaelogical Studies Trust. (P.A.S.T.) As we progressed down through each successive cultural level new features and artifacts representative of those particular cultures was discovered. As the excavations progressed, we reached a cultural level that dates to approximately 10,000 years before present. A thin lens of soil, stained dark gray by human activities, represents this level of occupation. Laced with abundant charcoal and features, it is rich in potential information about that particular time in prehistory. We need additional time to examine this cultural deposit. The USCARG group will proceed with research as time and funding permit. We will continue until we are satisfied that we have sufficient interpretative data from the 10,000 year old strata and below.
