This gallery chronicles my first trip to Cambodia in April 2001. It is more about the adventure itself rather than the photography. The photographs in this gallery are snapshots made using an Olympus 340R 1.3 mp digital camera (no Photoshop, etc.). The trip had such of an impact on me I wanted to share the journey.
The pictures are roughly in the order of my trip... The journey starts at the border at Poipet, travels over the legendary National Highway 5 via pickup truck, transfer to another pickup truck in Sissophon (now that was an adventure!). A very late night arrival and quick overnight in Battambang then the boat journey to Siem Reap early the next day arriving late in Siem Reap. After several days of temple hopping I spent several days with friends working for an NGO in Svay Rieng province. Finally ending with a brief stop in Phnom Penh.
If you have visited Cambodia before then you may find something here that brings back your own memories. If you have not yet visited Cambodia then perhaps you will be able to learn something about the country through this journey. I highly recommend "When the War was Over" by Elizabeth Becker for an overview of Cambodia's recent (last 50 years of so) history.
Simply beautiful, wish I was back in Cambodia (even though I just returned a month ago) beautifully captured A+
