In August '06 I met my father in Hanoi, and we went to Sapa in the mountains, near the Chinese border. Sapa is at 1600m altitude, and home to several indigenous tribes, primarily the Hmong and the Zhao. We were there during the rainy season, and it was beautiful - could drapped mountains. Like Chiang Mai 40 years ago.
