Pictures from a holiday in Cambodia, Laos and Hong Kong in 2009.
We flew from London to Hong Kong. After overnighting in Hong Kong, we flew to Phnom Penh in Cambodia. After two nights there we were driven to Siem Reap to see the temples of Angkor. We then flew to Luang Prabang in Laos, a beautiful and charming city and a world heritage site too. For our next stop we were driven over the mountains to Phonsovan to see the Plain of Jars and then down to Vientiane, the capital of Laos, via a one night stop in Vang Vieng. Finally we flew back to Phnom Penh for a night before returning to Hong Kong for a couple of days before flying back to London.
We booked our trip to Cambodia and Laos through a Cambodian tour operator, Global Travel and Tours (www.gbl-travel.biz). Mr. Ann, the owner, provided great service and the trip was excellent value compared to prices quoted by UK specialist tour operators.
I went to Cambodia after three weeks in China with an American friend who was working there in 2000. We flew to Cambodia via Hong Kong, and then flew from Pnom Penh to Siem Reap. Your photos are just what struck me, except for the ubiquitous lizards in our hotel. Did you see the monkey murals outside the royal palace in Pnom Penh? I regret deeply that I had a terrible camera.
