Carved effortlessly into the steep, rocky slopes of Mount Parnassus, the magnificent Ancient Theater of Delphi commands a spectacular view over the Temple of Apollo and the sweeping Pleistos River valley below. Originally built in the 4th century BC out of local limestone and later remodeled by the Romans, this historic 5,000-seat amphitheater served as the cultural stage for the musical and dramatic contests of the legendary Pythian Games.
