Built atop the highest hill in Mainz, St. Stephan’s Church bridges centuries of history—from its 10th-century origins to its stunning post-WWII restoration highlighted by Marc Chagall’s luminous blue glass windows. Marc Chagall designed nine blue stained glass windows for the choir and transept in St. Stephen's Church. The first window was installed in September 1978, and the final set was dedicated in May 1985 shortly after his death.
