Viewed from the roof top of the Silk Road Dunhuang Hotel at sunrise, Echoing Sand Mountain 鳴沙山 is a massive, colorful sand dune range located 6 km south of Dunhuang. Famous for its "singing sands," it produces roaring echoes or musical hums when wind blows or sand shifts.
