Antwerp Central Station is widely considered one of the most beautiful railway stations in the world and is often nicknamed the “Railway Cathedral.” Opened in 1905, it was designed by architect Louis Delacenserie in an eclectic style combining Neo-Baroque, Neo-Renaissance, and other historic influences. Its monumental stone façade, huge dome, grand staircases, and richly decorated waiting hall reflect the confidence and wealth of Antwerp during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
