The Jasper Forest is a valley within Petrified Forest National Park that contains one of the highest concentrations of petrified wood in the world. Originally known as "First Forest," this area is famous for its accumulation of quartz-heavy logs that have tumbled from the eroding bluffs of the Blue Mesa Member above.
