Near the entrance of the National Museum in Oslo is an installation entitled Pile o'Sápmi by Sámi artist Máret Ánne Sara, which consists of 400 reindeer skulls arranged in the foyer. Each skull is marked with a bullet hole, serving as a powerful, politically charged, and, at times, controversial protest against the Norwegian government’s forced culling of reindeer herds belonging to the indigenous Sámi people.
