Located outside the Oslo Central Station, Tigeren is a sculpture by Elena Engelsen and was unveiled in 2000. The tiger represents Oslo’s nickname “Tigerstaden” (“The Tiger City”), originally a 19th-century literary metaphor describing the city as dangerous and harsh. Over time, Oslo embraced the tiger as a symbol of strength, confidence, and urban energy.
