Bluebonnet is the state flower of Texas. The former first lady, Lady Bird Johnson, encouraged the planting of native plants along Texas highways after she left the White House. Thanks to her, highways in Texas are lined with bluebonnets, Indian paintbrush, and other wildflowers each spring.
