The distinct, red-brick Nikolskaya Tower (Nicholas Tower) rises above the northern wall of the Moscow Kremlin, Russia. Originally built in 1491 by Italian architect Pietro Antonio Solari, the tower features a striking green tented roof topped with a ruby star and a unique Neo-Gothic upper tier added in 1806–1812 by architect Luigi Rusca, framing the adjacent Senate Palace facade along the Kremlin precinct.
