The Tomb of the Unknown Soldiers was unveiled in 1967 to honor Soviet soldiers killed during World War II. The war memorial features an eternal flame burning in a bronze star, a dark red porphyry monument adorned with a bronze sculpture of a helmet and banner, and Post No. 1, guarded by soldiers of the elite Kremlin Regiment.
