This sign indicated the entrance to the National Wildlife Refuge, within which the radar site was located. The sign was on the main road from town, three or four miles from the radar site.
One time, while driving not far from this sign, we found a golden eagle dead in the middle of the road. We could not tell how it had died, but placed it in the back of the pickup and took it to the wildlife authorities. We had all seen eagles many times, but always in the air. Seeing this one close up, we were amazed at just how big it was. Its wingspan was huge!
