There was a parking lot just outside of the Orderly Room. Usually, several vehicles were parked on that lot. Once when most of the vehicles were elsewhere, one of our guys was just walking around with his hands in his pockets. Was he bored? Or, was he missing home? Those were feelings we all felt at different times during our tour. The time of day was just at dusk. After dark we didn't do much wandering around outside of the building. At least that was the case when the bears were not hibernating. It was not unusual for bears to be nearby. In fact, we would know when they were there because the dogs always raised a mighty ruckus. We even knew which side of the building the bears were on...because the dogs would be on the other side barking their heads off! They weren't stupid.
