Looking back from the top of the next hill toward from where we had just come, the muskeg is below. If you look closely, you can see the so-called creek running from left to right. Once again, the mountains would be those back up the peninsula in the direction of Cold Bay. Gene Smith and Ned Heathershaw are carefully walking through the tundra up the hill after leaving the muskeg. Ned is using the walking stick he lowered into the water to see how deep it was.
