We camped the first night in an area that was slightly hilly and covered with tundra. I was surprised to discover that animals had created so many trails that were pretty easy to follow. We had lost our bearings the first day, so the first night we just threw our sleeping bags on the ground, crawled in and went to sleep. The next morning, we were refreshed and ready to go. Jack Quirk(L), MSgt Oxford(C) and Sgt Bryant(R) had a conversation with SSgt Bill Webster. They were all wearing parkas of the type that were issued by the USAF when we came to Alaska.
