This is a picture of me when I was 23 years old and stationed at Cold Bay from Dec 69 thru Dec 70 - - 42 years ago. I couldn't believe it when I was looking thru these pictures and saw myself - I don't remember when it was taken! What I do remember is that my year at Cold Bay was "interesting" - I don't think I ever wanted for something to do - going out in the jeep with some friends looking for bears (and finding them - eating salmon in the river) searching for glass balls - getting stranded out in the bay when the tide went out - the club after the nightly movie and all the good friends I made. I got out - went back to school - got a BA and then went back eventually into the Air Force and retired after 20 - today, I'm a Social Worker in NH with 12 other Social Workers working for me at a state run agency. I've been married for 40 years - have one daughter and four grandchildren and often tell them about my year at "Old" Cold Bay.
