A Peek at New Orleans

A city of great contrasts - swank limousines and
derelicts side by side, blazing sun, high humidity, a splendid air-conditioned cathedral,
the French Quarter over-run with tourists and
students seeking cheap drinks - not my kind of town.

I'm sure that there is a less frenetic component of great charm,
but I will miss seeing that on this brief trip.

   Yet for one brief moment,
I see and feel a touch of poetry.
