A prayer for good health - De Krijtberg, Amsterdam

A lonely stop on a cold night

Contemplation
From afar, he saw
the symbols of millennial prayers,
Cast in stone, caressed by clouds.
Revealed now,
as in an ancient dance
in robes of rosy silk and lace.
Revealed now,
inspired by the smile of a slender reed.
Whispers to awaken from a somber sleep.

Someone is always watchinng
Past the moments of Her tears,
past reveries of distant gods and masters,
anxious to return to prairie temple,
She rises up to revel in the day,
knowing that once lost, it will not pass again,
Knowing that too soon the Summer shall be stolen,
into the depths of Demeter and daughter, Queen Persephone.

From the confines of my room
Never more, yet forever
To find a note of golden strands across a truffled plate.
To see a village light emitted in an urban robe,
To taste the evening near a landmark arch
Unrecognized as portal to a hidden world.
Never more, yet forever
To enter as an acolyte into a guarded temple,
To find brief refuge from a winter night,
To hear a samba’s rhythm in a Roman tongue,
Unrecognized as shaman songs that fade too soon.

The Lonlinesss of the Long Distance Flier
Jetsam debris of external existence,
unprotected by the academic walls
of self-constructed isolation,
Reveal scant clues of another world,
looked at but not seen.
Different answers to a different why,
both are heard but neither listened to.

Lonliness
In solitude he dreams
to lift the darkness of his wounded spirit
washed by doubts like waves
that break across a windswept shore
only to create a horrid undertow
that pull him farther from the very solace that he sought.

memento mori
Sotto voce dreams of love receive full voice,
not in weakness,
but as a proclamation of desires.
So I search to offer you a future
beyond two coins to place upon my eyes.

Fade to black
Through each our lives drift somber clouds,
concealing rays of our affection.
Through each our lives blow joyless whispers
stealing happiness of days now past.
Through each our hearts run profound sadness
washing away sweet hopes and dreams.
Through each our souls pass bitter agonies
rendering lost the joy of gift divine.

The final visit of Juan Manuel Borthagaray
remade upon a sixth return from mountain temple
fading dreams find feeble nourishment.
Acceptance frustrates hope
hastens fading blooms of youth
in preparation for a final ballet of decay.
