After passing the State Historical Museum one is in Red Square.
Looking to the right one sees the Nikolskaya Tower with a through-passage on the eastern wall
of the Moscow Kremlin. Like many of the Kremlin towers it was designed by Italian
architect Pietro Antonio Solari. Unlike the museum which is crowned with golden double eagles
the Nikolskaya tower sports a red communist star.
