Angel of the white rose,
     Sublime in visage, pained with love
     Call me forth this night in answer to my prayers.
     Damn me with the curse of silence,
           punishment for lack of full devotion.
     Waves of anger, fear, and sadness,
         of joy, affection and desire
     Break upon the shores of both our spirits,
     Invite vain hopes, remnants of past cruciform tracings.
     Emotion's bonds – littering vast lonely dunes,
         empty barriers marred by wreckages of hesitation –
     Agonies of loneliness, despair, confusion cloud our visions.
     Be still!
     I am not less trapped, nor less frightened of impending age,
     Listening for your voice,
         hoping beyond hope
         for messages of healing grace and consolation,
     Hearing only shifting sands and echoes of an ocean of confounded love.
