First prize for Jan 2005 Black@White

This is my first time that I send my picture for competition and I am very lucky to win the first prize for Black and white. I shoot this picture when I made the trip to Cheing Rai with Bangkok Photography Sociaty. I had been waiting for the smoke to form like this for a while and almost gave up. By the time that I saw this, I just kept pressing the shutter.
I would like to say special thank for Khun Manit for his advice about how to take a good picture.

You made a great photo. The light is perfect, as the woman's expression. But in my opinion, the shutter speed is the "master key" of success, giving "life", movement, balance. Congratulations.

This is one of those images i like to keep looking at. The first eye-catching element, ceremonially clad man sitting awkwardly with leading hand to boiling pot, and the last element smoke, presented in b&w with side lighting and superb exposure. i enjoyed very much this interesting and intriguing, what-is-in-the-pot, shot. Thanks for your effort and talent.

That is one of the best photos I ever saw! I've been to many Thai villages before electricity and this one catches the mood of somewhat tough conditions out there.
