環礁位於東馬來西亞沙巴州府 Kota Kinabalu(K.K.亞庇)西北的外海300多公里處，
自古屬中國南海的疆域「南沙群島」中之一個珊瑚環礁，並被命名為「彈丸礁」(註1)。
