One of my favorite times in the canyon was when our guides would turn off the motor and just drift. This particular instance called for getting the cameras out of the dry bags. Here's a sample of the wide dynamic range that the sun and shadow play in the Grand Canyon. Taken at river mile 55.5 - in the foreground you can see a ripple in the water - that would be a small rapid.
