I rafted the Grand Canyon in 2005 and 2007. in 2005, our very first night, 20 miles in, was at North Canyon, which is a side canyon that leads to the North Rim. Normally there is a hike to a fascinating reflecting pool with abstract rock patterns. We never got there. Our way was blocked by a rush of snow melt the likes rarely seen in this location - our guides, with over 30 years of river experience, had never seen it like that. So we photographed at the newly minted temporary waterfall.
