This morning while going through my morning ritual of
filling the bird feeder and then reaching up on the
fence to exchange the water in the pan I have there, I came
out of my daze in astonishment. Two feet to the left of my
hand was a Varied Thrush, just standing there!
After returning to reality, I backed away quietly and retreated
to the house for my camera...hoping, hoping, hoping. Amazingly, he was still
there when I returned. I held the point-and-shoot no more than
a yard away from it and took a shot.
A few seconds later, he hopped further down the fence, and flew off. Enough of
the admiration of humans.
Come back, come back!!!
