It's time to unpack, wash my dirty clothes, and catch up on what's been happening since I was away.

I take advantage of the sunny warm day to hang some stuff that shouldn't go in the dryer out in the sun. I've been trying to figure out why my raincoat smells so much like smoke and finally remember that I hung it on the line under the tarp the day it rained. I guess the smell was more than I thought. Even though I washed it down with a gentle soap, I can still smell smoke every time I walk past it. I guess this will just be one of those things that has to wear off with age--or until it's permeated by another smell, huh?

I have been working on getting all my photos arranged and organized so I can send to my compadres from the trip and to update my Sabbatical Blog. Progress is slow and when Mom calls and asks me if I want to come over and go out to Helvetia and pick peaches with her I say YES! But since we're going to go right by the DEQ, we detour there to take her car through.

Mom's car--which is just 4 years old--passes with flying colors which makes her happy. Once we've done this we head out to the peach orchard to find it CLOSED! Since we can't pick peaches, we decide to take a drive in the northwest hills of Portland and cruise around through Bethany and then Forest Heights. I wish I had taken a photo--the homes in Forest Heights are HUGE! We couldn't believe how big they were. Mom is already planning to take my aunt up there the next time she comes for a visit.
