North Gate - Angkor Thom

'The great city'- meaning of Angkor Thom. It was built by King Jayavarman VII in
12th century in an enclosed are of 9 sq. kms. There are 5 gates to the city.
North, south, west, east and the gate of the dead for the funeral processions.
The east gate was meant for royal processions.
At its peak in 12th-13th century a very well organized
Angkor Thom housed close to a million people.
