The compulsion to reproduce is strong with this one.
This Spotted Turtle-Dove (Streptopelia chinensis) female is
brooding - in the middle of Winter! And she's doing it literally
right outside my front door. These are VERY nervous birds,
normally, and the only way I could get her photo was to pretend
not to notice her every time I stepped out the door - and then
slowly get her used to me looking in her direction.
Finally I managed to get her to pretend to ignore me and the camera.
I was very difficult to manually focus on her eye.
This was the best of about 25 shots.
