Fernshaw at the foot of the Black Spur.
Once the home of some of the tallest trees on Earth - the Mountain Ash. Most of them were destroyed in the many fires that have ravaged the landscape since 1939.
If you look out from the peak of the Black Spur you can see thousands of dead Mountain Ash towering over the new growth like ghosts.
They will hopefully be replaced but it will take centuries for them to reach 300+ feet again.
