Although not as spectacular as I remembered if from my childhood, Ausable Chasm is an impressive sandstone gorge formed by the Ausable River, which soon empties into Lake Champlain. The gorge is about 2 miles long, with a tough hiking trail (sometimes along metal catwalks) the whole distance.
