The largest of the Mormon temples in the world. It is the centerpiece of Temple Square. Non-Mormons are rarely allowed entry. The location for the temple was chosen by Brigham Young in 1847, just days after the Mormon pioneers arrived in the Salt Lake Valley. The temple was dedicated in 1893, 40 years after the cornerstone was laid.
