"The Home of Authors". The home of Nathaniel Hawthorne. Originally a colonial farmhouse dating to the 1600’s. At the start of the American Revolution The Wayside was home to the Muster Master of the Concord Minutemen. In the 19th and 20th centuries, The Wayside housed three literary families, including the Alcotts and the Hawthornes.
