From a trip we took to Yellowstone around 1960, I remembered Mammoth Hot Springs as being one of the highlights. So, when I approached the locale around 2000, I was quite disappointed. It looked dead! However, the terraces are constantly changing as the result of variations in heat, water, limestone, and rock fractures. Mammoth Hot Springs are alive and well...a work in progress!
