Message from V. Aguilar Jr.
Greetings all!!!
The art of photography has always fascinated me. From the time-frame between Spring 2004 and Fall 2006, I was quite active in pursuing this art as a serious hobby. Then I became a father and 3 daughters later (2019 -- 10, 11, and 12 year-olds), I am now trying to rekindle the distant memories of this hobby.
In the real world, I work as a software-systems/test engineer for Lockheed Martin Space Systems Company on the Orion MPCV Program. I served as the Test and Verification Lead of the Orion MPCV Simulation Software team for the Orion MPCV EFT-1 Mission (2010-2015), as the Orion Software Release Train Engineer and Agile Lead/Software Release Manager as part of the EM-1 Mission; and am currently working Orion/Artemis Mission Systems Integration. Prior to this, I worked for 10+ years as a software developer/systems engineer on the Primary Avionics Shuttle Software team with Lockheed Martin/United Space Alliance. I have enjoyed being a part of the NASA Manned Space program now for 22+ years!!!
Originally from San Antonio, Texas, I also lived in College Station, Texas (where I received my BS in Aerospace Engineering from Texas A&M in 1995 -- WHOOP!!!). Then lived for 16 years (1997-2013) in the Houston/Clear Lake, Texas area where I started working for NASA/Lockheed Martin/United Space Alliance as a Shuttle Flight Software developer/engineer. Received my MS in Systems Engineering from the Univ. of Houston-Clear Lake in 2005 and transitioned to the Orion MPCV program in 2008. As of the summer of 2013, I now reside in the Denver, Colorado area.

My favorite subjects to photograph include:
- nature/landscape shots (especially of the U.S. Southwest)
- architectural shots
- astrophotography (very new to this!)
- Looking into starting some portraiture practice.
