Guest 09-Apr-2008 16:58
hi, first of all congratulations for your work, i enjoyed a lot having a trip around your odl´s courious, i think that most of us have seen thousands of pictures from india, but almost all of them had been taken by foreingners (except rai raghu, if it´s writtne this way), it´s been really nice to see india trough indian eyes...

..apart from this i really enjoyed the pictures, incredible colours and very beautiful and honest portraits..

All your galleries are remarkable and I think you give lessons to all of us, in clever humility, without any intellectual trick, leaving your pictures speak loudly and purely for your talent.

Fantastic galleries Vikas. Also thanks for commenting in my galleries!
Keep up the good work!

Guest 29-Nov-2006 04:11
I had a delightful time viewing your galleries. One of this things I miss in most photographers who shoot India is the architecture as they only present cultural facets... your compositions are very nice with unique perspectives for the well known icons of delhi and surrounding areas...I have not been to my home in Delhi in 4 years but next time I come, I will definitely take some pictures of the monuments that are around and that are so under-rated...good job and keep up the good work!!

Hey Vikas, I saw a documentary on India on TV in the UK. Pushkar was mentioned and I thought about searching here on PBase for some shots. The shots that you got of the camel market are just the tip of the ice berg. It is not very often that a local photographer captures the landscape and culture of his own country so beautifully. You are a great ambassador to India. The photos have a magnetic power that is pulling me closer with every image that I open up. Devjit Acharya hit the nail on the head: You are an inspiration.

I am sure that these images will sell well to a publishing company as the basis for a travel book or one on the beauty and colours of India. Darn, I'd definitely buy the book and I have never been to India. Through your viewfinder, I feel like I have though. Thank you very much for that visual journey.

An understatement to say that your work is inspiring!!

I was an avid bird-watcher in Kerala, India for 4 years during my "BSc in Forestry" days. We went bird-watching almost every day in our very extensive, wooded campus (Kerala Agricultural University Main Campus, Vellanikkara, Trichur) and also on bird census(es) at Parambikkulam Wildlife Sanctuary and other spots. The only "weapons" we had were binos. I wish we had a good digital camera and a telephoto lens then. Now that I'm in the US and have a good digital photography setup, I miss the green lushness of Kerala and all the mammals and birds we're so used to there. The mid-west of the US is not the best place for birding. :-( Your photos are excellent.

Hello Vikas,

You are a great photographer. Please post some of your architecture related photos in the world's largest forum on skylines, skyscrapers and urbanity. Photos from India are pretty rare [except for the standard cow/poverty photos]. Your absolutely stunning photos of the India Gate and Udaipur will be highly appreciated. The site is non profit and completely commercial free and copyrights remain with you.

There is an active India forum too where some youngsters are trying hard to inform the world about India's urban metamorphosis. Please join them at

Even if you don't that's fine.

Your photos are really excellent. I liked the Varanasi and Jama Masjid series too.

Hi Ravi/Namita, thanks for your message, appreciate it. Regarding bird pics and sharpness, dont know much about the 100/400 Nikon lens but do know that with the 2x converter, the quality will go down some so maybe you would like to look at a 1.4 converter instead. Also, you end up losing two stops of light with the 2x. I usually try for at least a shutter speed of about 1/500 at the very minimum when handholding the lens at 400mm. The higher the shutter speed the better the chances of the pic being sharp. Also, I don't use any converters. Cheers and hope this helps. Vikas
Ravi and Namita 21-Dec-2004 04:43
The Bhindawas bird photos are superb. What detail and lighting.

We've just started off taking bird pics with a 100-400mm Nikon lens and 2x teleconverter on the D70 - so far while we have got some neat shots, the detail you have got on your photos is something we are unable to figure out how to get.

Appreciate your help if possible.

Thanks, and well done again.

Dear Babu Das, Many thanks for your kind comment and for looking through my pics, appreciate it. Yes sure, it would be great to take some pics of the Delhi skyline, have to get around to it and will do soon. Guess will need permission from the authorities to climb up the Vikas Minar/Palika Kendra but will try and get some good ariel shots, the CP ariel shot could be really cool. Thanks for the suggestion. Cheers.

Babu Das 19-Nov-2004 02:03
Hello Vikas,

Stunning pics of Udaipur, NY, Landscapes. It was a pleasure seeing such beautiful pics.
Would it be possible to share some excellent skyline shots of New Delhi? New Delhi is the capital of India. Yet there are no proper aerial, skyline or modern pictures of New Delhi. How would New Delhi look from the top of Hindustan Times or Vikas Minar or Palika Kendra? No one knows. But we all know how Old Delhi looks from Jama Masjid. It would be great to see some nice pictures of New Delhi. The India Gate pics were excellent!

Great job!

Hi Virender, thanks for looking; used a 100/400mm lens for these pics, usually at 400mm and most were taken with the Canon 10D. Cheers.

Hi Vikas,

just came by to see your photos, following your request to join 'BangaloreShutterBugs' on yahoo groups.

I must say, you've got some amazing photos out here. I like those Macro shots, knowing the basics of the process, I can only imagine, how difficult it can get to shoot something like that. Anyway, I'm not done seeing more than 30% of the photos here, so I'll save the rest of the praise for those photos.

I hope you have a useful participation on the yahoo group and may be share some of your tips with the rest of the memebers. I'm sure people would be very happy to learn from you.
