Feb 1: MX No.1

MX No.1

This is the MX that I’ve had so much fun using over the past weekend. So much fun that I’ve bought another! The new one’s not a brassed up black beauty like this one, but a regular silver model, the black ones being quite rare. At least I’ll be able to tell them apart! They’re so cheap as everyone’s ‘upgrading’ to digital. Like no one ever got a good photograph on film! The odd thing about the film v digital debate is that it always seems to compare scanned film v digital. Scanned film? Isn’t that just comparing your digital camera with your scanner? What if you compared your traditionally printed film shot with a digital capture by photographing it displayed on your computer monitor? On film of course. Hmmmm... now there’s a thought, maybe I should publish such a comparison for the benefit of 'that certain forum'...

I agree, David. I just had some prints made at a photoplace from digital pictures and they don't compare to film originated prints. Some are good, some are close but not quite there. These are shots that look good on a monitor, at least how I have mine calibrated. I really notice the difference in the skin tones. Thinking of trying a different place with the same pics for comparison.

The first real camera I ever owned, wish I had one now.

The Pentax MX ~ it was the EOS300D of its day. I still have my two silver ones.
A very nice close up here with the orange popping out of the black.
I would say nice DOF too, but I won't...
